  • Osteomalacia is a condition caused by lack of Vitamin D in adults
  • Bones become softer and weaker due to inadequate mineralisation
  • Osteomalacia differs from Osteoporosis. In Osteoporosis there is reduced but mineral levels remain normal
  • Bone tenderness and muscle weakness are the main symptoms of osteomalacia. Sufferers commonly experience tenderness in the ribs and shins even from minimal palpation
